Third Age Trust nominations
Nominations open for u3a Council and Board
At October’s AGM our membership voted overwhelmingly to approve the Fit For the Future resolution and create a new u3a Council.
This new Council will be responsible for representing the views and ideas of the wider u3a membership, while a new, smaller, Board of Trustees will focus on governance of the Third Age Trust. It is the Board’s role to make sure we have a strategy in place to help us achieve our objectives. The Board will look to the Council to ensure the u3a voice is central to that strategy development process.
We now welcome members to apply to take up a role on the new Council and Board. To allow future elections to happen in a phased manner and avoid a cliff edge of all members stepping down at once, we would like some members to serve shortened terms of one to two years.
You can find out more about each of the roles and the upcoming election process, as well as a timetable and nomination form in the candidate packs below.

Open roles and how to apply
Council Representative
It will be the Council Representative's role to ensure that the voice of u3as in their area is heard and feeds into the strategy of the Trust.
The Council will be made up of two elected representatives from each region and nation, as well as the Network Chair. CRs bring expertise and knowledge from their region, nation, or network and are responsible for promoting the ethos, principles, and benefits of affiliation to the Trust. They ensure the views, activities and achievements of u3as are recognised and considered as part of the work of the Council.

Board Trustee
With the creation of the new Council, a smaller Board of Trustees will focus on governance of the Trust.
The u3a Board is made up of elected u3a members who have the necessary skills and experience to enable effective oversight of the Trust. In addition to its oversight role, the u3a Board is expected to set the strategic direction and determine and monitor the annual budget for the Trust.
